Chapter 17 is a chapter of the Special Forces Association, a Veteran Service Organization. Accordingly, its purposes include but are not limited to those of the  Association, as follows:

A.  To educate members and the public regarding the history, present contributions and future development of U.S. Army Special Forces (consistent with U.S. security regulations).

B.  To assist in keeping Special Forces units adequately manned and equipped for the defense of the United States of America and the Free World by supporting the establishment of the Special Forces Branch as the premier combat force within the United States Army.

C.  To unite fraternally persons who are now or have been assigned to the United States Army Special Forces.

D.  To perpetuate the 1st Special Forces traditions.

E.  To commensurate fittingly the memory of Special Forces soldiers who have given their lives in the defense of the United States of America and its interests in national security across the globe.

F.  To forward and promote the general welfare and prosperity of the members and to improve by all lawful means their status and conditions.

G.  To be a source of inspiration and esprit de corps for all Special Forces units.

To promote leadership, citizenship, interest in Special Forces and support of the U.S. Armed Forces, Chapter 17 plans to be involved with the ROTC programs at local high schools, colleges, and universities. The Special Forces Association promotes a Special Forces Award of Excellence to students who meet the program criteria. Our members will attend the annual ROTC Award Ceremony and present the SF Award Certificate to the deserving cadets. A copy of the award is below.
